Here is your song for the day. At least its not It’s A Small World….

in How to be a Housewife

This is the move that never ends.

Yes it goes on and on, my friends.

Some people started in on it, not knowing what it was, and they’ll continue moving it forever just because…

We’re still unpacking.

Which is kind of impressive at this point. Sure, I haven’t spent every waking moment unpacking. But if you don’t count my vacation on Tuesday at the DMV where I got to help AARP’s finest type in my married name, maiden name, and place of birth one letter at a time (Albuquerque….it took me three times just now to get it right….and that was using spell check…) it’s running about 80/20.

The good news is I’ve finally recovered my sense of humor about moving life as we know it.

I should have known to check the box with the corkscrew in in first.

I’ve also found the shelf plugs for the bookcase I’ve been wedging together for the past 3years using packing tape and a very artfully arranged collection of board games. Not to mention my weigh watchers cookbook, a short satin bathrobe, the genuine leather jacket I insisted on wearing at 8months pregnant, and enough power strips to never have to use more than one actual outlet ever again. Needless to say, the local GoodWill is extremely happy to have us in the neighborhood.

And once I finally put away all the boxes I shoved down the stairs to the basement when I ran out of room up here, we can finally take the U-Haul over to my MIL’s and get the rest of our stuff.

The REST of our stuff.

That’s right. There’s more. Much. Much. More.

That is, of course, assuming we don’t just drop it off at GoodWill instead. After all, if we’ve been living without it for a year, do we really need it?

Except the deep fryer. We need the deep fryer.

Pray for me as I try to condense 6 years of house living into 3-4 months of apartment living. I’m almost scared about what this will give me inspiration to throw out. Here’s to hoping you’re unpacked before I move out in about 2 months- you’re on a deadline! Go! :)

So glad to have you back on the East Coast where all your friends can enjoy your company! Great for the UVA children to grow up knowing one another.
