The House that Crazy Built

in How to be a Housewife

If you don’t know the fabulousness that is my facebook page, well, you’re missing out. Partly on the crazy. But mostly on the pictures. And the crazy.

For instance, yesterday? I posted this:

That’s right, ya’ll. I found my camera.

And as soon as I find my mind, life will be complete.

Did find that pair of underwear I was missing, so that’s good…

But I realized afterwards that some of ya’ll might not get the crazy. Sure, a picture is worth a thousand words. But whats it worth if you don’t hear them? Nothing.

So. Today, I am taking you on a tour. Of the mother-flippin-house that we mother-flippin-flipped. Kind of. Also known as, the house that crazy built.

This is our front yard. The one the Big Man’s been spending all his spare time raking and mowing in an effort to get the grass to grow around the bottle caps he’s yet to pry out. Although if it’s all still like this come spring, we may just go ahead and pave over the entire front yard. With bottle caps. We’ll call it installation art.

This is the Big Man’s office. His desk is the one in the corner. To the right. More to the right. More. You see that desk chair peeking out? Yes! THAT is his desk. In his office. Right next to my desk. And….

My craft closet!

Sure, some woman dream of a closet just for her shoes. Or her clothes. I? Dream of an entire room just for crafting. But the Big Man dreams of his own office. So we compromised.?.

This is our second bathroom.

I’d show you the first one, but really it’s not as exciting as the second one. Because it’s a SECOND BATHROOM. IN my house. Which means if the Big Man chooses to¬†ingest¬†Chinese, Mexican, Indian, or anything other than plain white chicken breasts I don’t have to deal with it. At least not while its happening. Or unhappening, as the case may be.

This is our laundry room. (To the left, to the left, to the left….and…. just imagine my craft closet, but with a washer and dryer in it) And our home gym. (center stage) And our shed. Because that’s how we roll, ya’ll.

This is my kitchen.

And yes. That is a door to no where. I have my very own Sky Door.

Points for those of you catching the Game of Thrones reference there. Double points if you haven’t clicked away…

And this?

Is what happens when the movers destroy the lower half of your cheap Target bookcases, and your husband gets creative with his penchant for never throwing things out.

It’s kind of awesome. I’m not going to lie.

Especially because it also led to this:

THREE. NEW. BOOKCASES.

I’d tell ya’ll it was like Christmas, but then the Big Man will think he doesn’t have to get me anything for Christmas.

But now I have THREE BOOKCASES. All to myself. I can put out every single book I love, or will love, and still have room to buy more. And thats before I even have to bump the family pictures for shelf space.

And. And. It’s ALPHABETIZED.

Or at least the shelves above the Little Miss’s reach are.

Speaking of whom…here’s her room:

She has her own room! Where she can sleep! All night! By herself! No more waking her up at 10pm to kick her out of our room. No more making our guests choose between sleeping with me or sleeping with the Little Miss. Now they can have the couch ALL to themselves!

Also? It’s pink. And pretty. And girly. And in two years I’m sure she’ll hate it. But until then, I’m just kind of reveling in it all.

This is so obviously the Little Man’s room. He loves it. I love it. And he got to tell his daddy exactly where to hang all of his pictures.

And yes, in case you were wondering, he can fit under that bed. As can I.

Your place looks great! Love the bookshelves and Big Man’s creativity with the broken ones. I’d have never known if you hadn’t said anything. My house will be looking all put together some time in February or March. But first they have to dismantle it. That starts in November. So excited!!!!

LOVE IT. especially all thos bookshelves! and are you doing the same thing to the Little Miss my mom did to me? I rarely wear pink now except for breast cancer support. That trumps learned hatred of a color.
And your craft closet is pretty legit. Its no room, but still pretty neato. How are you dealing with the Sky Door and the kiddos?
Oh and your blog was pretty good too….just kidding it was funny and I enjoyed it.
